Dental implants help us to recover a tooth that we have lost, for various reasons, without having to wear down the adjacent teeth. 

At ALBERT&BARBER we consider it very important to explain to the patient that replacing a lost tooth is not only an aesthetic issue, but also a functional one. Dr. Maria Josep Albert will analyze each case in a multidisciplinary and integral way thinking not only in the current situation of the patient, but also in the medium and long term.

In our clinic we want to offer the best quality in our treatments so we use high-end implants of Swiss origin, Straumann®. These implants are made of a material called Roxolid® which is an alloy of ~85% titanium and ~15% zirconium. The combination of the properties of these two metals offers greater resistance to fracture and fatigue than titanium implants. Roxolid® has a 10-15% higher maximum fracture toughness compared to grade 4 titanium.

Due to their increased strength, Roxolid® implants offer greater choice in terms of treatment options with short or narrow diameter implants. In patients with limited ridge width or in patients who are not ideal candidates for grafting procedures.

The loss of one or more teeth causes great changes in our mouth, both aesthetically and functionally, which can result in bone loss, increased wear of the remaining teeth, problems in adjacent teeth due to overloading, gum recession and even the movement of adjacent teeth to incorrect positions.

The phases of our treatment are as follows:

  1. Digital diagnostics and planning using intraoral scanners and dental CT scans

  2. Surgery for implant placement

  3. Placement of the final crown

  4. Periodic check-ups at the clinic

We know that missing teeth is an esthetic problem that can reduce our self-esteem, but let us remember that the loss of teeth also prevents us from chewing normally and, as a consequence, from digesting food poorly.

IMMEDIATE LOADING IMPLANTS

Immediate load implants allow us to replace teeth within a maximum period of 72 hours. Dr. Maria Josep Albert will determine the suitability of each case for this treatment, although in general terms we can say that it is indicated for those who have lost most or all of their teeth. 

With this technique we can rehabilitate complete arches by placing four to six implants together with the provisional prosthesis in the same day, which will restore the functionality and esthetics of the mouth in a short period of time .

As we know that each patient is different and has specific needs, before performing the treatment, we carry out a complete study and a personalized digital diagnosis.

  • Once the implant is placed, we must wait 3 months for healing and then two weeks until the crown is placed.

  • The placement of an implant is not a painful surgery, it is an inflammatory sensation of a couple of days for the intervention performed. These are placed in the bone which anatomically is little innervated at the nervous level.

  • Implants can last a lifetime if you take good care of them with good hygiene and attend their clinical controls.

  • After the placement of an implant, adequate hygienic access should be maintained with daily brushing and flossing. In addition, it will be necessary to attend annual check-ups for clinical and radiographic control.

  • An implant is a titanium screw implanted in the bone and on which a zirconium crown is placed to reestablish the function of a lost tooth. The dental bridge rehabilitates the same lost function, but it does so by resting on the adjacent teeth by means of dental caps where the teeth have been previously polished to make them smaller.

  • The healing time required for the implant to anchor in the bone is 3 months.

  • This depends on the location of the implant site and the mouth opening, but there is no limit to the number of implants.

  • It is important to avoid physical exertion at least the first day.

  • It is necessary to evaluate by means of a CT scan if the lack of bone is in width or height, and based on that decide if the bone is regenerated on the day of the implant placement or if it would be done in two sessions separated in time.
