ADVANCED PERIODONTICS

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that is concerned with maintaining the integrity of the support system of the teeth such as gums and bone; being one of the fundamental pillars in the maintenance of our teeth in the long term. We want to emphasize that it is the favorite specialty of our Dr. Maria Josep Albert to which she dedicates her time as a professional and teacher.

Periodontics procedures are aimed at the treatment of periodontal diseases, ranging from a slight inflammation of the gum (gingivitis) to the loss of such support as bone (periodontitis "pyorrhea") in both teeth and implants.

It has been shown that 80% of the population over 35 years of age has or has had gingival disease. In most cases it can be stopped and the risk of reactivation avoided by the patient's cooperation in maintaining good oral hygiene and attending periodontal maintenance appointments .

Our periodontal treatment ranges from the correction of the hygiene technique to control bacterial plaque, to the elimination of the factors that trigger it (calculus, hormonal alterations, tobacco, control of infectious, hereditary, immunological factors, etc).

At ALBERT&BARBER we understand that no two periodontal patients are alike, so Dr. Maria Josep Albert, will assess each case individually indicating the risk and likelihood of recurrence of periodontal disease in order to prevent the loss of bone and soft tissues. Our doctor is at the forefront of the latest advances in Periodontics making ALBERT&BARBER a reference clinic in Periodontics in Valencia.

NON-SURGICAL TREATMENTS

In our clinic, before performing any type of treatment, we perform a periodontal study to determine the status of the disease and thus be able to perform the most appropriate treatment for each case. Depending on the progression of the periodontal disease and the presence of calculus on the teeth, we will carry out a basic phase treatment and after this, we will decide if a second surgical phase is necessary.

The treatment we perform is a minimally invasive basic phase that consists of a scaling and root planing treatment where we perform a cleaning of the teeth above and below the gum. With this we manage to remove tartar and diseased inflammatory tissue, reducing the periodontal pocket. This is performed in two sessions under local anesthesia to prevent possible discomfort.

SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Sometimes it is not enough to control periodontal disease with the treatment of scaling and root planing, so we resort to microsurgical treatments to solve them.

On the one hand, we find PERIODONTAL SURGERY, which allows access to to clean the deepest areas of the periodontal pockets, those difficult to access, which we have not been able to access by scaling and root planing.

This can be combined with PERIODONTAL REGENERATION techniques in cases where it is possible not only to control periodontal disease, but also to regenerate lost bone. The objective is to reconstruct and promote the growth of lost tissues by placing a laboratory prepared membrane and bone between the gum and the bone.

In the case of wanting to recover the gum, we would perform a GUM INJECTION , which can be the patient's own or a membrane already prepared in the laboratory.

Finally, we would have the technique of PERIODONTAL PLASTIC SURGERY where we perform treatments of displacement or removal of tissues with an aesthetic objective. Among them one of the most frequent is the aesthetic crown lengthening, where we increase the size of the tooth eliminating gum and bone that is left over by the patient achieving harmony in the smile and thus treating the gingival smile of many patients for presenting Altered Passive Eruption.
