ODONTOPEDIATRY in valencia
At ALBERT&BARBER we want the little ones to feel comfortable and safe when they come to see us. That is why we take care of the environment of the clinic making it calm and pleasant so that every child who visits the clinic leaves delighted.
Pediatric dentistry is the branch of dentistry responsible for treating children and newborns. It is also in charge of detecting possible anomalies in tooth replacement and in the position of the jaws. Let us remember that it is essential to visit the dentist for the first time when the first tooth appears and within the first year of life. All this will also help children to generate bonds of trust and to associate the dental office as a safe and relaxed space.
The main pediatric dentistry treatments we perform are: dental caries prevention and injury treatments, dental trauma and fracture treatments and pulp treatments.
DENTAL CARIES
We treat all types of dental caries in children. Whether it is the caries produced by a diet rich in sugars or the so-called baby bottle caries, which arises with the appearance of the first milk teeth.
The possible pediatric dentistry treatments are varied and will depend on the state of the caries. If the nerve is not affected, we will carry out a filling (obturation). Otherwise, pulp treatment will be necessary.
In cases where there is no other option but to extract the tooth prematurely, we will place a space maintainer for correct dental growth and to prevent the space from closing.
PREVENTION is very important from the first years of life. We should educate the little ones that they should brush their teeth 3 times a day with fluoride toothpaste (at least 1000ppm of fluoride up to 6 years of age and from that age onwards more than 1450ppm of fluoride) and to improve hygiene between the teeth use dental floss or interproximal brushes.
PULP TREATMENTS
There are two types of pulp treatment: pulpectomy and pulpotomy.
A pulpectomy consists of completely removing the pulp or nerve of the tooth. This treatment is performed as a consequence of a deep caries. Once the nerve has been removed, the resulting cavity is sealed.
A pulpotomy is very similar to the previous treatment, but with the difference that the condition is less severe than in pulpectomy and that theamount of pulp removed is less.
The decision between the two treatments is made after taking X-rays and observing the clinical symptoms presented by the child.
TRAUMA AND FRACTURES
We perform treatments for children who have received a blow in the mouth, producing a breakage or trauma of a dental piece.
In milder cases, simply polishing the enamel or reconstructing the missing part with resin or composite will be sufficient.
In the most severe cases, where the nerve is affected, we may have to perform a partial or total treatment of the pulp tissue.

Children do not know what it is like to go to the dentist, but they do know that they have to brush their teeth to prevent them from getting damaged. We recommend a first visit as a first contact where we can show them their teeth, the instruments, the work space and generate an atmosphere of trust where the words pain and fear are not mentioned.
